19-06-10 2011 Rail Trip available announced


Trinity Railway Express F59PH no. 126 waits departure time at Dallas Union Station on the afternoon of 3rd May 2010. This locomotive was formally numbered 568 and was one of the original four F59PH locomotives purchased from GO Transit in 1999 for the start up of TRE service.

Since 2003 usabyrail.co.uk has been providing information on North American Railroad Operations with a view to promoting interest in the railways of this diverse continent. As well as the information provided through this website, usabyrail.co.uk has run eight rail trips covering varying routes and commuter areas across the United States enabling participants to sample such delights as stunning scenery or high powered diesel locomotives on heavy weight passenger trains.

The website is broken down into various areas:
The "Rail trips" section of the site provides details of the annual rail trip with a full itinerary and travel notes for the areas to be visited and the
long distance routes that will be covered.

The "Heritage" section looks at the railroad preservation movement within North America.

The "Reviews" section contains travelogues of peoples trip experiences in North America.

The "Motive Power" section provides details of the types of operations that can be found with the various commuter agencies and Amtrak. Details include areas of operation, routes and the motive power that can be found on trains. Where possible details of equipment diagrams are provided as a guide, as are observations of trains worked by various locomotives during visits.

The "Links" section gives a comprehensive list of usefull links that can be used to find out more information about the various operating railroads in North America.
